Articles of Association of the Academic Committee

Article 1 In order to standardize the academic activities of the Innovation and Design Center of Shanghai Jiaotong University, to guide its design innovation, scientific research, discipline construction and the cultivation of creative talents, to promote the establishment and development of the Center more in line with the strategic needs of the state and industry, and to meet the era mission of "mass Entrepreneurship and innovation among all people", Shanghai Jiaotong University Tong University's International Service Center for Innovative Design establishes an academic committee. 

Article 2 Academic committees are composed of well-known scholars and experts with profound academic attainments in this field (generally with full and senior titles), with a total of 18 members. In order to ensure the representativeness and fairness of academic committees, the proportion of academics serving as academic committees in our university shall not exceed one-half of the total number of members. 

Article 3 The Academic Committee shall have two directors (one for art and one for engineering) and two Vice-Directors (one of whom is a scholar of the University and presides over daily work). 

Article 4 The term of office of the Academic Committee shall be five years, and the number of replacement members shall not be less than one third of the total number. 

Article 5 The chairman and members of the Academic Committee shall be appointed by the School of Shanghai Jiaotong University. 

Article 6 The main responsibilities of the Academic Committee are: to formulate and amend the statute of the Academic Committee; to review the research orientation of the Center, the training plan of industry, University and research and double-creation talents; to be responsible for the evaluation of research projects and the appraisal of the results of the research projects; and to participate in coordinating major activities in the field of this discipline. 　　

Article 7 The Academic Committee shall hold a plenary meeting once a year, the meeting time shall be determined by the proposal of the director of the Center, and the important matters shall be considered and voted on. If necessary, an interim meeting or a communication meeting may be convened. 　　

Article 8 Meetings of academic committees shall be effective if the number of participants exceeds two-thirds of the total number of members (including two-thirds). The meeting shall be chaired by the chairman of the academic committees. If the chairman of an academic committee is absent for any reason, he shall be presided over by the vice-chairman of the academic committee or other academic members entrusted by the chairman. Resolutions of the Conference shall be voted by secret ballot, with more than one-half of the votes of the members present, and shall be signed and entered into force by the Director of the Academic Committee. 　　

Article 9 The Articles of Association shall be implemented after the first meeting of the Academic Committee on April 8, 2017. The right to amend and interpret the Articles shall be vested in the Academic Committee of the Innovation and Design Center of Shanghai Jiaotong University.
