In September 2017, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance and the National Development and Reform Commission issued the Notice on Publishing the List of Universities and Construction Disciplines of World-class Universities and First-class Disciplines, and the List of Universities and Construction Disciplines of World-class Universities and First-class Disciplines (referred to as "Double-class"). Shanghai Jiaotong University has been selected as the top two construction disciplines, and 17 disciplines have been selected as the top two construction disciplines.
Building world-class universities and first-class disciplines is another important strategic measure that the state has decided to implement in the field of higher education after 211 and 985. In the field of life medicine, we should focus on five disciplines: life science, pharmacy, clinical medicine, basic medicine and stomatology.
In the field of science, we should focus on the construction of mathematical science, frontier chemistry and green chemical industry.
In the field of Humanities and social sciences, we should focus on five disciplines: commerce, economy and management, rule of law and social governance, innovative design, humanities and science and technology, and higher education.
