"Infinite Innovation, Moving Often"--The 26th Graduation Design Exhibition of Design Department of Jiaotong University opened solemnly

     On the morning of June 10, the opening ceremony of the 2017 undergraduate graduation of the design department and the film and Television Department of our college and the 26th undergraduate graduation design exhibition of the design department were grandly held in the A100 studio and the A201 exhibition hall of our college. Wu Jingyi, Dean of the Academy of Education, Zhang Junliang, Vice Dean of the College of Machinery and Dynamics, Che Shengquan, Vice Dean of the College of Agriculture and Biology, Zeng Xiaoqin, Vice Dean of the College of Materials Science and Engineering, Hu Shiqiang, Vice Dean of the College of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Tang Ningyu, Vice Dean of the College of Economics and Management of Antai, and Li Benqian, Vice President Han Ting, Deputy Secretary Li Chunmei, director of design department Zhou Wuzhong, deputy director Kong Fanqiang, deputy director of film and Television Department Shao Qi and other college leaders attended the opening ceremony, which was presided over by deputy president Han Ting of our college.

        Wu Jingyi, Director of the Academic Affairs Department of the University, first delivered an opening speech. In his speech, Director Wu said that Jiaotong University always regards talent cultivation as the fundamental task of running a school, and innovation as one of the elements of talent cultivation is indispensable. The frontier of design, film and television discipline has played a great role in promoting scientific research innovation and cultural prosperity on campus. The interdisciplinary background of Media Institute also provides a platform for teachers and students to fully display, and encourages media students to better promote innovative design in the context of new engineering.

     Later, in his opening speech, President Li Benqian said that science and engineering provided technical support for the development of innovative teaching and research, while social science provided imaginative and aesthetic support for the realization of innovation. Only by fully realizing the intersection and integration of liberal arts and sciences can we truly achieve scientific research and teaching innovation, which is also the case. Our Media Institute has always adhered to the concept and direction of efforts. President Li fully affirmed the achievements made by the teachers and students of the design department and the film and Television Department in teaching, scientific research, discipline construction and social services, which fully demonstrated the excellent ability of the students of media design. President Li believes that this graduation design exhibition is not only a report of four-year undergraduate study of media students, but also a comprehensive test of design, film and television teaching. It is also a centralized reflection of the effectiveness of school discipline planning and construction. He hopes that through this exhibition, we can promote the construction of our design discipline in accordance with the international first-class school-running model and realize it.         At the opening ceremony, the deputy director of the design department Kong Fanqiang introduced the situation of the graduation design exhibition of the design department. This year's Graduation Design Exhibition exhibits the works of 24 undergraduate students in industrial design, 18 students in visual communication design and 26 students in environmental design. Design covers product design, service design, interactive design, jewelry, brand, creative products, illustrations, packaging, interior design, exhibition design, architectural landscape, beautiful rural and ancient village transformation, theme landscape and other topics. The students'design reflects their concern for the health of doctors and patients, women and the elderly, and their thinking on the continuation of tradition and fashion, urbanization and cultural heritage protection. The title of this exhibition is "26th session". The design of Jiaotong University has been developed from scratch, and it is now the year of its establishment. In the course of 30 years'development, the undergraduate teaching system of design science is based on the advantageous discipline platform of Jiaotong University, closely following the pace of reform and opening up, and adapting to the change of national strategic development goals. The focus of design teaching has shifted from product form and function design to human-oriented and service-oriented design. It attaches importance to design thinking and practice, humanistic spirit and historical context, integration of technology and art, collision of science and humanities, coexistence of tradition and fashion. Jiaotong University is devoting itself to becoming a multi-dimensional innovation. Design platform, serve the present and lead the future.

        In his speech, Shao Qi, deputy director of the Department of Film and Television, introduced the development history and outstanding achievements of the Department of Film and Television: the graduation exhibition is the ninth Youth Video Festival for graduates. With the joint efforts of all teachers and students, the Department of Film and Television has trained many excellent talents and achieved excellent results, such as the end of the year. Alumni in the industry has repeatedly won good results in national film and television festivals, especially in the Shanghai International Film Festival or the Golden Judge Award for Films, etc. Many works in this exhibition have reached a high level, expressing the author's breakthrough and innovation in future development, we can see that students have mastered it through four years of pursuing their career in school. With solid knowledge and professional skills, he will be able to use his own skills to shine and serve the society in the future.

 During the speech session of the graduate delegates, Yu Junhang, an industrial design major, thanked the exhibition for the opportunity to turn his inspiration into a work exhibition. Although the design process was very hard, it was gratifying to see the results. He thanked the faculty for their teachings over the past four years, the students for their common struggle, and the family for their concern and support. Chen Anyi, a student in the film and television department, recalled the little things she had done in the college for four years. She had a lot of hard work, but more warmth and gratitude. In one sentence, she said, "Media is always alive and moving."

     On behalf of the teachers and students of Design and Film and Television Department, Vice President Han Ting thanked all the distinguished guests and teachers for their concern and guidance, especially for the exhibition. He also thanked all the teachers and students who made great contributions in the preparation, distribution and maintenance of the exhibition. I did not try my best to contribute such exquisite works after four years.

 Finally, all the guests jointly pressed the electronic starter ball which represents the hope and harvest, and the 2017 Graduation Design Exhibition of Design Department and Film and Television Department of Media and Design College was officially opened.
