Mr. Zhang Zhixiong explained the advantages of Jiaotong University's design and the significance and intention of setting up an innovation and design center in No. 0 Bay to promote innovation and entrepreneurship development in No. 0 Bay. He said that No. 0 Bay would concentrate on relying on the central resources and make every effort to cultivate, incubate and transform upstream and downstream industries in the design field, and the operation of the center would also be carried out. Professor Zhou Wuzhong introduced that with the continuous progress of social science and technology, contemporary design is also showing a state of rapid development. In the West, design discipline has developed into a mature discipline with complete system. In China, the time of independent discipline of design is relatively short, and the theoretical system is not perfect. Oriental design is a system of design ideas based on Oriental culture. The relationship between Oriental design and traditional culture has a long history and is inseparable. How to focus on both frontier theory and practical issues in the wave of internationalization, inherit national characteristics and present their own unique personality, is a problem faced by every design scholar. "One belt and one road" as China's first and top level national initiative has far-reaching strategic significance for China's modernization drive and standing in the leading position of the world. The main contents of cooperation are "policy communication, facilities communication, trade unimpeded, capital financing and people's minds communication". Countries along the route have different cultural traditions. To achieve the "five links", there are cultural barriers to a certain extent. Designing cultural bridges with innovative approaches and methods and strengthening cross-cultural communication will help create a new situation of open and inclusive human communication in countries along the line.
In order to further systematically study the design concept and theoretical system of the "one belt and one way" and "Oriental design", the International Workshop on "2017 belts and one way and Oriental design" was launched as one of the main academic activities of the third Oriental Design Forum. And methods to promote cross-cultural communication between the countries along the belt.

        At the opening ceremony, the 2nd Oriental Design Excellent Thesis Award Ceremony and the appointment ceremony of Oriental think tank experts were held. Dr. Chen Pu of Bauhaus University in Weimar, "the cultural exchanges between the East and the West on the Silk Road", Professor Tao Siyan of Southeast University, "the application of folk symbols in Oriental design", and the 6 papers of "the belt and road" national and city logo design research by Professor Xiao Bing, associate professor of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, won the first prize. Twelve experts and professors, including Long, John Shackleton, Goth Gronin, Shoma, Mengjian, Tao Siyan, Dong Qun, Chen Jian, Gu Huizhong, Gu Ping, Su Jincheng and Zhang Tianlai, were appointed as the first group of expert members of Oriental Think Tank.

        The following three conference reports were presided over by Professor Zhou Wuzhong of Shanghai Jiaotong University, Professor Lin Xun and Professor Chen Jian of Tongji University. Zhang Zhigang, former deputy secretary of the Ministry of Commerce of People's Republic of China, member of the Central Museum of history and culture, Professor Tao Siyan of Southeast University, Professor Meng Jian, director of the national cultural innovation and design center of Fudan University, and other 20 famous scholars at home and abroad have made brilliant speeches. On the other hand, many brilliant innovative ideas have been put forward. After the conference report, Professor Zhang Liqun of Shanghai Jiaotong University introduced the general situation and the latest research results of the Institute of Design Management of Shanghai Jiaotong University, and presided over the launching ceremony of "China Innovative Design Index" of the Innovative Design Center of Shanghai Jiaotong University.         It is reported that the "Oriental Design Forum" was initiated by the Department of Design, Shanghai Jiaotong University, and invited well-known design scholars at home and abroad with global influence to focus on the frontier theory of design disciplines and practical issues. The forum aims to pool ideas, integrate resources, plan for the future, and create a design platform with academic competitiveness and social influence worldwide. Shanghai Jiaotong University Innovation Design Center (ICID-SJTU) was established on April 8, 2017. Based on the traditional advantages of the design discipline of Shanghai Jiaotong University and the industrial vitality of the Zero Bay International Innovation and Entrepreneurship Cluster, the design center aims to build into a multi-disciplinary integration and deep internationalization oriented to the development needs of national creativity and emerging industries. The "innovative design" has been listed as a world-class discipline training program. The "Oriental design", which focuses on the construction, is aimed at strengthening the cultural heritage and innovation centered on Chinese excellent culture, and promoting the development of all the countries along the belt.
